In Western cultures, Christmas is a very important holiday. It's like Korean Thanksgiving or New years.  Stores are closed and all businesses are closed that day. people are not hanging out with friends spending that day with their family. And in evenings, family have a big dinner withTurkey meat. Most homes have a christmas tree. and family wake up early in the morning to open presents.

However Korean Christmas is way different . It might not be quite the same as how Christmas is celebrated in the West, but as one of the few nations in Asia that has adopted Christmas as a public holiday. It is less traditional less to do with religion only about 20% of the population in Korea is actually considered Christian, so these people go to church and celebrate Christmas.

In Korea, people spend Christmas with their lover. It is not a big holiday. there is less emphasis on family time, especially among young people. people with a boyfriend or girlfriend usually spend Christmas together . Koreans spend with their friends and throw a party, go for drinks.  In a survey, it was found that only 33% of people in thier 20s and 30s spent Christmas with family. It's definitely more of a party atmosprere. And shops don't close up. Usually business is fire on Christmas, so everywhere is open and everyone's up late. For the sake of the mood, people eat Christmas cake. The practice of gift-giving is also one that isn't strictly followed, and it's usually reserved for children.

이는 서양에서 크리스마스를 기념하는 방식과 상당히 유사할 수 있지만, 아시아에서 크리스마스를 공휴일로 채택한 몇 안 되는 국가 중 하나입니다.
